Vermont Stone & Horticulture was founded in 2006 as Grass Gauchos, primarily as a landscape maintenance company. We have since grown into a full-service landscape design, installation, and maintenance company with a staff of up to 16 people during peak season, and a dozen year-round employees.

Josh Cohen, Owner

Josh Cohen, Owner

Josh earned his geography degree from the University of Vermont with a minor in horticulture. His approach as the owner is hands-on, and he has the experience to both oversee and participate in all company projects, whether it’s designing a clifftop garden and patio, building a lakeside stone staircase, or perfecting a summer lawn. In addition to day to day oversight of operations he also bids and manages the commercial projects for the company.

Matt Hopewell, Crew Leader

Matt has worked in the landscape industry for the past twenty years, and ten of these have been spent with Vermont Stone & Horticulture. Along with a degree in horticulture from the University of Vermont, he brings a wealth of knowledge about native plants and how to care for them.

Landon Roberts, Landscape Construction & Sitework Manager

Landon joined the Vermont Stone & Horticulture team in 2013. He started in the landscape industry stacking pallets of stone at his family’s quarry. Since then he has learned all facets of the business from mowing to koi pond installation. He is a key member of the installation team, helping bring designs to life by overseeing all the site work and stonework installation.

Todd Romanchek, Estimator & Outside Sales

Todd has worked in the landscape industry for the past ten years, and seven of these have been spent with Vermont Stone & Horticulture. Along with a degree in horticulture from the University of Vermont, he brings a wealth of knowledge about native plants and how to care for them.

Pat brings over ten years of experience in the landscape design field to our team. He brings an unparalleled level of detail and customer service to every project he works on. An avid outdoorsman you will often find his bike parked next to his desk or his ski boots in the office depending on the season.

Ken Antonich brings close to a decade of experience in the Vermont landscape industry to the table. He works as our landscape maintenance operations manager overseeing day to day operations of the maintenance crews making sure they are providing the best possible service to our clients.
